Is Herbal Medicine Safe?
Herbal medicine works with nature, not against it.

It is safe in the right hands. It is safe in the right doses, prescribed by a qualified practitioner.

Herbal medicine is suitable for everyone, if used properly, including babies and pregnant women.

Children can respond particularly well to herbal medicine.

By consulting a medical herbalist you are ensuring expert advice and treatment for your condition.

It is sometimes tempting to treat yourself with over-the-counter herbal products.

This can be very successful if your problems are straightforward and the quality of the products is good.

However if the condition is chronic or you are concerned about conflicting effects of other medication, then seeing a qualified herbalist is highly advisable.

Will treatments conflict with medication I am taking?
Always consult a fully trained medical herbalist. when considering herbal treatments.

Luzia will always take your complete medical history and medication into consideration before any diagnosis is reached or treatments prescribed.

A well-trained herbalist is always looking for the causes of ill-health, no matter how subtle, and correcting these.

How long are consultations?
Your initial consultation takes between 1 and 2 hours.

This enables all aspects of your health and symptoms to be explored.

Any subsequent consultations are shorter.

How much does a consultation cost?
An initial consultation costs £30 to £45 and lasts between an hour and an hour and half.

If you are uncertain whether herbal treatment is right for you, you can arrange a FREE 15 minute assessment and then decide about a proper appointment.

Medicines prescribed and put together by Luzia usually cost no more than an ordinary prescription from your doctor.

How can I pay for my order?
If you have chosen some items from the Shop, you can pay for your order by cheque, postal order, or securely online via credit or debit card.

At this time, we can only process payments within the UK.

For secure UK credit card payments, we have linked up with Nochex, which is an online payment system that enables individuals to send money for FREE using their UK debit/credit card.

All sensitive financial information is stored securely on Nochex servers. Nothing is held on the herbsforhealing website.

Once a payment is made we will dispatch the order to you. The payee will appear on your bank statement as: Nochex Limited.

If you choose to pay via cheque, an invoice will be sent to the email address supplied and a copy retained by Luzia.

In order to complete the order, please post the cheque to the address in this email.

All cheques should be made payable to Luzia Barclay.

On receipt of payment, and clearance of the cheque, the full order will be dispatched to you.

If you would like to collect the order, please contact Luzia. Your invoice will be reissued minus postage charges. Luzia will confirm when it would be convenient to come and pick it up.

What amount of herbs or tinctures should I use?
The amount of a herb which can be used safely is given on the label of each product.

If you have any questions at all about any of the products please call Luzia on 01258 456223 or visit the contact us page.

If a tincture has been especially formulated for you as a result of a consultation, Luzia will have explained its function to you already.

However, do not hesitate to call if you have further questions or are unsure about the effect it is having.

How quickly can benefits be expected from herbs?
Some people are helped by the herbs after a very short time - perhaps only a day or two.

It may take longer to notice benefits - perhaps 3-4 weeks, and sometimes much longer.

As with other similar products, response to our herbal products can vary from person to person.

Personal experience of the herbs will enable you see how they can help you.

How can I maximise the benefits of the herbs?
A cleansing diet helps the herbs or tinctures to work better in many cases.

Eat more fruit and non-starchy vegetables, and eat less meat and dairy foods.

Drink plenty of water and herbal teas.

If possible excercise a little.

Internal organs can hold a lot of toxins, activity helps the organs to cleanse, it brings balance and relieves stress.

Exercise improves lymphatic circulation and increases fluid circulation in the muscles and joints, as well as strengthening heart and lungs.

Do you do Home Visits?
Yes! If you are unable to get to the Practice for your consultation, Luzia is happy to come to see you.

That said, anywhere further than Dorset/Somerset/Hampshire/Wiltshire would be unrealistic. Give her a call or send an email to check.

Alternatively, you could have a telephone consultation, but Luzia is unlikely to prescribe any complicated medicines without first seeing you. She may however be able to recommend a herbalist in your area.
